Things are always busy around here, summer is all about County Fair and keeping animals safe from the heat. Fall is a new school year and preparing for ALL the rain and mud. Ever since moving here I feel like we just can't win. Hope when we get to move we have a slightly better experience.
I am going to try to get better about tracking our show attendance and winnings, I seem to just collect the ribbons and file the legs. Not working out so well when I am confused on our standing with the Himalayan club. But either way we have a lot of fun as a family. <3
Since State we sent my favorite pair at the time -Hobbit and Jazkabor's Eden- to Mt Hood RBA show. Eden won her third Grand Championship leg and had an honorable mention for Best in Show! I didn't get to go, but I did get a cute bag to show off my win.

We "retired" Eden as soon as she won her third leg and qualified for her Grand Championship. We decided that was the way to go because we would really like to use her to build our herd and didn't want any accidents to happen, and because her mother Cole's R34 was also looking gorgeous and deserved a chance to also become a grand champion. Eden is now REG/GC Jazkabor's Eden. <3 Our 4th home bred Grand Champion.
Crazy 8's show in May went smoothly for us, even though we took 2 breeds and and had 4 exhibitors in our family, and working the show! It was amazing, I feel so blessed by how well it went. We found a home for a sweet junior chocolate himalayan buck, and J sold his buck Oliver to a family we enjoy ( so he could grow out 3 of his daughters <3 )!

The kids had a blast and Cole's R34 Won Best of Breed both shows! Her second and third Grand Championship leg! Woohoo, ready to be Granded - if I can ever get her in front of a Registrar. Jazkabor's Hazel was 2nd out of 2 both shows. Still a junior at the time. Wish I had started this post sooner so I could remember and share the comments on her! LOL Our youngest two kiddos loved getting to show their Netherland Dwarfs, and our daughter loved working the snack booth!
Before Crazy 8 even happened I found we ALSO had to send in entries to Oaks Park. Which is super fun for us and pretty close to home. We hadn't even discussed it yet, we only think one show at a time so we keep it fun and not overwhelming. But I found on FB one night after everyone had gone to bed, that I had ONE HOUR to turn it in! Wow it felt kind of awful, but I went ahead and entered the same rabbits as we did for Crazy 8. Luckily no was upset about going to this extra show. ;)
At Oak's Park, Cole's R34 Won Best of Breed show A, and show B was won by an animal with our beloved herd sire Sam on the pedigree! It was exciting to see them, they had made there way back up to Portland from West Coast Classic in Nevada! We sent 9 rabbits to go out to new homes from WCC the year before, they went all of the west half of the country. Sometime I hope to get to find out which animal those came from. As for now I am just so excited for our friend who bought them. Our kids entered the Youth show and while the little guys love to get Best of Breed and Best Opposite, my daughter prefers to have competition.

It was then a long break for us -while some are busy going through the fair circuits- it is not for us. We cull hard and keep only our favorites and I just can't risk them in the heat and with the "general public". Plus we have our County Fair our kids are super into! Our first year Junior won Master Showman! That was her goal at the beginning of the year! This was J's first time NOT going to compete in Master Showman Round Robin, because the kids scratched all their poultry due to the heat and he had to compete in Showmanship with one of his meat birds. He did well but the bird did not and they keeps him out of the running for Champion. He didn't mind. <3
I will leave Hermiston and the other fall shows for another day. Have a great day of your own, thanks for reading.
